Yesterday was a beautiful, sunny 80F day in Golden, Colorado for the opening day of our outdoor soccer Fall season.
Just wonderful. The final 3-2 win over the competition made it sweet, three goals by my Daddy made it all the sweeter, and homemade rhubarb strawberry pie shared with relatives made it sweetest.
Here's a few pix from the afternoon playing with the backdrop of the Foothills and the Flatirons behind us.

Max and BilFish make their first homemade pasta! Max is cranking away as you can see.
That's a nice lasagna noodle, if we do say so ourselves!
Getting ready to lay down a looooong lasagna noodle for the eggplant parmesan lasagna we made!
Max got a shirt at a Rapids game giveaway. It's a bit big yet, but he wanted to try it on anyway.

Max is quickly growing to be a big Colorado Rapids fan!
A few pix from our picnic a couple weeks ago celebrating our nephew Shawn's birthday. These were taken with Shawn's new bad-boy digital camera featuring 4 megapixels and 10x optical zoom! Crazy...

We couldn't figure out whether to make lemonade or hot cocoa on this strange weather day!
Dad gets dinner ready while Max performs the necessary work to create fine, homemade lemonade.
As you can see, the weather presented some confusion for us. It was raining, but very bright!
Bright indeed! It was sunny but raining on us!
We visited Golden's own super-cool train museum, the Colorado Rail Road Museum.
This was the first visit for all of us. I've waited to do many activities around Colorado that I knew I'd be doing with the kids, and it paid off handsomely with a great visit yesterday afternoon. The museum grounds are just up the road from us, very picturesque as you'll see, and really nice to walk around.
We showed up on a "steam up" day which means they have the train running and can catch a ride around the park. It only happens about 6x a year, so it was nice to catch it, really rounds out the museum experience.
We'll be back in October when "Thomas the Tank Engine" visits! Yea!
Kids! They think they're invincible!

Oops! The ladies slipped off the back for a bit of shopping
That's okay! Max and Dad turn the wheel and slow the train so they can catch up with the girls
Sure, this looks like an impressively big engine...
But ya really gotta see it up close. This is a monster!
Or even closer...

Woops! Sounds like it's time to say goodbye
Au revoir from the fictictious town of Richardson near Golden, Colorado!
